Etonnant et "impressionnant" ce drôle d'engin !
Qu'est-ce donc ? Eh bien, c'est la première imprimante 3D domestique. C'est-à-dire, pas pour l'industrie, mais pour vous et pour moi.
3D ça veut dire qu'elle "imprime" en volume.

Son principe ?
Après la sélection de l'objet à imprimer, de la résine liquide, installée dans une cuve, est frappée plusieurs fois par un rayon laser qui dessine les contours et les détails de l'objet.
En sortant petit-à-petit à l'air libre, cette résine durcie par le contact laser, devient stable et solide. L'objet EST CREE.
La précision est au millimètre près et la durée d'impression de quelques heures.
C'est la V-Flash créée par 3D Systems. Elle est volumineuse certes, avec ses 65 cms de côté, mais elle est capable de matérialiser des objets de 17 x 22 x 20 cms. Et sortira cet été.
On n'a pas encore idée je pense, de tout ce que cela va impliquer et des répercussions que ce genre d'imprimante pourra bien entrainer.
Sûr qu'elle ne sera probablement pas encore à la portée de toutes les bourses, mais je trouve l'invention assez bluffante !

Astonishing and ..."impressing" this funny machine !
So, what is this ? Eh, well, it's the first domestic 3D printer. That is to say, not an industrial type, but for you and me.
3D stands for the fact that it "prints" volumes, in three dimensions.
How does it work?
After selecting the object to be printed, a tank of liquid resin is struck several times by a laser beam which draws up the contours and the details of the object.
After being progressively exposed to air, the resin, previoulsy hardened by the laser, becomes stable and solid. The object is CREATED.
The precision is in the range of a millimetre and the time needed for impression a few hours.

The machine is the V-flash, created by 3d Systems. While certainly bulky - 65 cms per side - it is able to materialize all objects of roughly about 17 x 22 x 20 cms. And will be available next summer.
I guess we have no clue yet as to the implications of this technology and the repercussions this kind of printer will have.
Of course it will probably not be within the range of everybody's purse, but I find the invention baffling !
