-UNE ETOILE EST NEE-

En mars dernier, au Wales Millenium Center de Cardiff au Pays de Galles, avait lieu une émission de "télé-crochet" de la chaine britannique ITV : " Britains's Got Talent", menée par un jury de trois personnes auditionnant les futures vedettes.
Se présente un petit bonhomme étonnant, plutôt discret, un peu gauche, et qui dans la vie, vend des téléphones mobiles.
Avant l'émission il confie qu' à l'école on se moquait de lui et que, depuis, il manque de confiance en lui.
Quand il se présente sur scène, un peu mal fagoté, visiblement mal à l'aise et tendu, le scepticisme du jury, à la limite du goguenard, est visible.

Et puis il se met à chanter ...






L'émotion à l'état pur ! Cet aria très connu : Nessun dorma du Turandot de Puccini, il en fait de la magie, du don sans calcul. C'est irrésistible et ça donne le frisson.

Et en voici encore un peu, pour la grande finale qu'il a remportée. Ah il s'appelle Paul Potts et on n'a pas fini d'entendre parler de lui ...

A STAR IS BORN

Last March, at the Wales Millenium Center of Cardiff in Wales, the broadcasting of an American Idol type on British ITV took place. Titled "Britains' s Got Talent", it was carried out by a jury of three people auditioning the future stars.
Suddenly a rather discrete, somewhat weird and clumsy little man, who sells mobile phones for a living, appears. Before the broacasting, he confided that at school the others used to make fun of him and that ever since he had lacked confidence in himself.
When he presents himself on stage, slightly badly dressed, obviously ill at ease and stressed, the skepticism of the jury, almost mocking can be felt.

And then he starts to sing ...

A moment of pure and raw emotion ! He turns this very reknowned aria : "Nessun dorma" from Puccini's Turandot into magic, without any calculation. It is irresistible and gives the shivers.
And here's s a little bit more, for the great final that he won. Oh by the way, his name is Paul Potts and this isn't the last time you will hear his name ...

L'anti-americanisme français

J'ai lu un excellent post : " L'énigme anti-américaine" de Nicolas de Pape, sur le blog du Club français du LYMEC ou European Liberal Youth . Avec simplicité, clarté et évidence, il répond aux faux procès que les anti-américains primaires et sans fondement que sont, combien ? 95 ... 97% ? des Français, font à l'Amérique.

Je cite l'auteur : " ... Incultes et idiots, les Américains ? Outre qu’on voit mal comment une bande de veaux pourrait dominer le monde, les Etats-Unis concentrent une des plus grandes densités de musées, d’orchestres symphoniques et de bibliothèques. L’intelligentsia américaine est une des élites les plus réputées du monde. Les quatre Prix Nobel scientifiques 2006 sont américains, conséquence heureuse de budgets conséquents consacrés à la recherche fondamentale. Par milliers, des chercheurs indiens, chinois et européens, investissent ces pépinières de la pensée que sont les universités américaines ..."

Et encore : "...De fait, comme le rappelle avec un certain humour Pascal Bruckner, nul boat-people empli d’Afro-américains - pourtant ségrégués - n’a jamais traversé l’Atlantique pour quitter l’enfer US. Des millions de Mexicains et de Cubains, au péril de leur vie, ne cessent, au contraire, d’affluer, ivres d’une vie nouvelle. Ces immigrés ont manifesté récemment par centaines de milliers contre la précarité au nom de : “Amérique, nous t’aimons!”. Plutôt renversant, vu d’Europe ... !"

Que voulez-vous, à lire cet article que je vous conseille, moi, je bois du petit lait ... Oui ! USA on vous aime ! Merci monsieur Nicolas de Pape.
Je pense d'ailleurs que dans les dix années qui viennent, si rien ne change en Europe, pas seulement les Mexicains et les Cubains vont continuer d'affluer aux US. Je crois qu'il va falloir s'attendre à une grande transhumance des Européens en général et des Français en particulier, sous la pression de l'invasion venue du sud ...

French Anti-Americanism

I just read an excellent post: "The Anti-American Mystery", from Nicolas de Pape, on the French LYMEC Club (European Liberal Youth). In a very simple, clear and obvious way, he addresses the false claims that primitive Anti-Americans - say what, 95, 97% of the French? - make to America.
Citing the author : " Idiotic and uncultivated, those Americans ? Even though one can't see how a herd of calves would manage to lead the world, the United States are home to some of the highest densities of museae, symphonic orchestras and libraries worldwide. The American Intelligentsia is one of the most famed. The four 2006 Nobel Prizes were American, which is a positive consequence of the funds allowed to fundamental research. By the thousands, Indian, Chinese, and European researchers become part of those "thinking nurseries" that American Universities really are ..."

Moreover: "... As Pascal Bruckner humoristically tells it, there never was a boat people filled whith African Americans, though segregated against, trying to cross the Atlantic ocean to leave the American Hell. On the contrary, millions of Mexicans and Cubans try, under life-threatening circumstances, to pour in, desperate for a new life. Those immigrants were among those who demonstrated , by the hundreds of thousands, against precarious life, hailing "America we love you". Quite awesome, when viewed from Europe ..."
I just can't help myself, I delect reading that article-and advise you to do so. Yes ! USA we love you ! Thank you, monsieur Nicolas de Pape.

Besides, let us realize that within the next decade, if nothing changes in Europe, it won't be just Mexicans and Cubans pouring continuously into the US. I believe we can expect a great transhumance from Europeans in general and the French more specifically, because of the pressure of the Southern invasion ...
