Qui ne connait pas l'écrivain de Science Fiction Isaac Asimov et ses fameuses Lois de la Robotique ?

Première Loi
Un robot ne peut blesser un être humain ni, par son inaction, permettre qu'un humain soit blessé.

Deuxième Loi
Un robot doit obéir aux ordres donnés par les êtres humains, sauf si de tels ordres sont en contradiction avec la Première Loi.

Troisième Loi
Un robot doit protéger sa propre existence aussi longtemps qu'une telle protection n'est pas en contradiction avec la Première et/ou la Deuxième Loi.

Eh bien oui, ce n'est plus pour demain, ils arrivent dans nos vies, ils sont là. Qui ? Vous avez deviné : les robots bien sûr !
L'ère des robots semble enfin arrivée, et l'un de ses plus beaux specimen, c'est la firme Honda qui l'a créé : le célèbre Asimo. Asimo pour "Advanced Step In Innovation Mobility". Pour ma part, je suis totalement séduite !

A l'origine de ce grand projet de la firme Honda, un rêve : aider les personnes en leur fournissant de nouveaux types de mobilité.
" Notre rêve pour le futur devait créer quelque chose qui n'existait pas - un robot humanoide sophistiqué capable de marcher et d'agir où les humains vivent et travaillent. Pour Honda, le défi lui-même était une raison suffisante pour poursuivre ce rêve "

Et c'est vrai que les résultats commencent à faire rêver. Voyez plutôt :

- Ici, le fun c'est de prendre un verre au café Asimo.
Et c'est Asimo qui sert à boire.



C'est vraiment impressionnant ! Quelle aisance et fluidité de mouvement, on entrevoit déjà les potentialités futures.

- Là : Asimo évolue dans son environnement avec des humains aussi bien qu'avec un congénère. Asimo a la capacité d'estimer la vitesse et la trajectoire des personnes qu'il croise et peut les éviter, en se reculant s'il le faut.
Et quand le niveau de sa batterie tombe au-dessous d'un certain niveau, il revient de lui-même à sa station de recharge et se met sous tension.

Ensuite Asimo fait son show en Suisse au chateau d'Oex et en français.

THE POWER OF DREAMS

Who doesn't know the Science Fiction writer Isaac Asimov and his famous 3 Laws of Robotic ?

First Law
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

Second Law
A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Third Law
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Well it's true, this is no futuristic dream anymore for they are here, they arrive in our lives. Who am I referring to ? Yes, you guessed right : Robots of course !

The era of robots has finally arrived, and one of its most fantastic specimen is the one the Honda company created : the famous Asimo - which stands for "Advanced Step In Mobility Innovation". Personnally, I am totally and utterly charmed !

At the onset of this great project for Honda, there was a dream : help people by providing them with new types of mobility.

"Our dream for the future was to create something that did not exist - an advanced humanoid robot capable of walking and operating where humans live and work. For Honda, the challenge itself was enough reason to pursue this dream"

And it is true that the results already can make us dream. But take a look for yourself :

Here, the fun is having drinks at the Asimo Cafe.

And it's Asimo that serves the drinks !

Asimo is really impressive ! What an ease and fluidity of movement, one can already foresee the future potential.

Here Asimo can operate in an environment with people as well as other Asimo.

Asimo is able to estimate the path of people walking toward him based on their speed and direction and to avoid them by stepping back if necessary.

And when Asimo's battery level falls below a threshold , he returns to his recharging station and power up.

Cornemuse vous avez dit cornemuse ?

Je sais, tout le monde n'aime pas forcément la cornemuse. Pour ma part, je fais partie des inconditionnels.
Inconditionnelle je suis, de ce son étiré, lancinant, qui fait frissonner et parfois, littéralement vibrer les nerfs, ce son évocateur pourtant, de landes et d'elfes, de danses et de tambours, de tartans et de traditions, compagnon gémissant des épousailles et des enterrements.
Musique capable de nous émouvoir et de nous effleurer l'âme comme le bouleversant "Amazing grace" ou de devenir bondissante d'allégresse, et virevoltante et légère comme dans les danses des Highlands ou la jig irlandaise.

Et prenant pour modèle cette cornemuse, cet instrument si particulier avec son sac, véritable réservoir d'air, qui permet à l'instrumentiste de reprendre sa respiration sans que le son ne s'arrête, savez-vous ce que des chercheurs ont fait ?

Cherchez bien ! Vous ne trouvez pas ?

Eh bien, ils ont fait un robot. Oui ils ont créé le Robot "Cornemuse".
Et je trouve ça époustouflant ! Mais où vont-ils chercher des idées pareilles ?

C'est un groupe de scientifiques et d'étudiants du Carnegie Mellon University ( CMU ) de Pittsburgh en Pennsylvanie, qui a construit ce robot surnommé Mc Blare, capable non seulement de jouer des airs engrangés dans sa mémoire, mais surtout il peut "entendre" des mélodies nouvelles, les mémoriser, puis les restituer en son de cornemuse.
Quant au design, Mc Blare ( R.Mc Blare comme dirait Asimov ), va bien sûr arborer le traditionnel tartan écossais vert et rouge.

BAGPIPE, DID YOU SAY BAGPIPE ?
Yes I know, not everyone likes the sound of bagpipe. I myself am one big fan.
I, unconditionnally, love that stretched, yearning sound that gives the shivers and sometimes actually makes my nerves vibrate, that sound reminding us of the land and elves, danses and drums, tartans and traditions, moaning companion of weddings and funerals.
Music able to touch us and stroke our soul like the upsetting "Amazing Grace" or make us jump with joy, circling and light as dances of the Highlands or the Irish jig.
Well, using this bagpipe as a model, this particular instrument with its bag, a genuine air pouch that allows the player to catch his/her breath without interrupting the sound, could you guess what some researchers did ?
Search a bit more…you can't find what ?
Well they built a robot. Yes, they designed the "BagPipe robot" ! And I am flabbergasted ! Where on earth do you get such an idea ?
It's a group of scientists and students from Carnegie Mellon University ( CMU ) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who built this robot dubbed McBlare, able to play tunes stocked in his memory but even more able to "hear" new melodies, memorize them and replay them with his bagpipe. Concerning its design, Mc Blare ( R.Mc Blare as Asimov would say ), will of course proudly display the traditional green and red Scottish tartan.
